I think it's been about a month since my last update for the ol' student blog. Let me fill you in quick...

- After getting back from the AMOR trip, I spent two more weeks at my internship in Northglenn, getting ready for my sermon and attending Willow Creek's Leadership Summit '09. (By the way, attend that next year. It's incredible.)

- I preached on Acts 1:6-11 on August 9th, ending my internship and a great summer. Plus, I was reunited with my cousin who I haven't seen for years. Bonus! (Hi, Micah.)

- Got all moved back into my parent's basement while I waited for a week for the dorms to reopen.

- Dorms open, freshmen moved in. Stop by and say what's up to Daniel, Robert, Isaac, Renate, and our returning former students, Titus and Warren.

- Upperclassmen moved in. We have 11 guys in the dorms and 4 girls. Recruit, recruit, recruit girls! Make use of that sweet recruitment tuition bonus!

- Classes started this week. Keep all of us students in your prayers that we stay diligent, motivated, and passionate about our studies. We pray that homework will not become so much of a burden, but that we will realize its potential for impacting our respective ministries, both now and when we go into the ministry/missions field.

I find encouragement in the book of Jeremiah. When God calls him, Jeremiah tries to give excuses. "I do not know how to speak, I am only a child." But God wouldn't have it, and let him know that He would be there. Jeremiah 1:17-19

17 "Get yourself ready! Stand up and say to them whatever I command you. Do not be terrified by them, or I will terrify you before them. 18 Today I have made you a fortified city, an iron pillar and a bronze wall to stand against the whole land—against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests and the people of the land. 19 They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will rescue you," declares the LORD.

I pray that, for this upcoming year, we will not be terrified by our audiences, but that we would boldly proclaim the Word of God to whoever comes within our spheres of influence.
