Want a hourly breakdown of those 7 days? Here we go...

a clock

44 hours studying

9 hours at work

14 hours in class

45 hours sleeping

If I’m doing my math correctly, that is 56 hours of time that is not accounted for. So what happened to the other 56 hours?

Alex's Addition - Excluding Ourselves

Written by Alex on February 2, 2010

It's been a long weekend here at the dorms. A long, boring weekend. Over half of the guys went home or out of town, and the girls are kept constantly busy with birthday parties and the like.

Luckily, I had a sermon to prepare for, since I was preaching this last Sunday.

Alex's Addition 1.11.10 - Welcome Back!

Ahh... Registration Day. The smell of the guys moving back into the dorms, the sound of groaning about paying school bills, the UPS man trying not to break his back as he delivers another giant stack of college textbooks. It's beautiful.
I'm excited for this new semester as we start another decade here at Summit. We're looking forward to what God has planned for us in these next few months - through Mentored Ministry, our classroom studies, conferences, and everything else we are involved in as a college and as the body of Christ.
We have two new students on campus this semester - Shainah Henni and Sarah Graler. We're excited to have them, and can't wait to see what additions they bring to the dorm life.
Thank you for your constant prayers and support for the school.
In Christ -
                               Alex
P.S. Don't forget that Valley Men's Fellowship is here on campus tonight at 6:30!

Shut the door!

My last attempt to blog was on October 21st. You might notice that I never posted a blog on that day, which is due to the fact that it was a failed attempt. But, here I go again...

As I was preparing a sermon for my Homiletics class this week, I came across an illustration that I really like.

Do you ever read through a passage of Scripture and immediately identify with one of the characters in that passage? I think this happens to pretty much all of us a lot. This last week I was preparing yesterday's sermon, reading through Jonah. And I just stopped reading all of a sudden and thought, "Dude, that's ME." I wasn't reading in Chapter 1 where he takes off and tries to run from God. I wasn't reading Chapter 2 where Jonah is completely humbled and repentant while sitting in fish guts. I wasn't reading in Chapter 3 where he gives Nineveh the forty day plan and says, "Hey, straighten up or God's gonna wipe you out!" Even though I've been to those places before (well maybe not quite as harsh as the Chapter 3 thing), that's not where I stopped reading. I stopped reading right after Jonah 4:3, where Jonah is in the middle of basically yelling at God for showing mercy.

The pictures are in and the scores have been tallied! After hours of competition, dozens of pictures and countless perplexed stares, we have a winner!

Team A - led by Matt and Kimee Snyder, ended up with a grand total of 7650 points!
Team B - led by Becky Stelzner and Garrett Powell, came in with a total of 7800 points!

Congrats to Garrett and Becky's team!

Alex's Addition 10.16.09

Occasionally, (this may blow your mind) college students get bored and restless. (Crazy, huh?) What with it being the end of mid-terms week, we had to do something to get out of this building and away from our ever-so studious lives that we normally lead... *wink*. So, a few of us sat down and wondered to ourselves, "Selves, what can we do to get the student body out in the fresh air, playing a game that promotes team building and unity?" Then it hit us, we should carry couches around town! It gets better...

Becky's Blog 10.16.09

Isaiah has consistently been saying to me the past few weeks, “Becky, you need to blog!” “Becky, write a blog” “Hey Becky, Alex wrote a blog today, where’s yours?” Alex also decided to remind me to blog. I told both of them that I haven’t felt “inspired” to blog, and I don’t know what to “talk” about…
This is probably shocking, considering that I can probably talk for 2 hours without stopping if there is someone around willing to listen. Alex suggested that I talk about happenings at the college. So, here’s my attempt to get back into blogging after several months absence.
