Olin and Deloris Atwood Memorial

Olin and Deloris Atwood on their 50th Wedding Anniversary

The Atwood memorial service brought together many who may not have been as familiar with one another as much as they were familiar with the two they came to honor.  Even so, it was quite clear that all who did come, came to share a very real and deeply genuine common bond of sincere appreciation for the life work and witness of this truly wonderful couple.

Every aspect of the memorial service resonated with the memory of Mr. and Mrs. Atwood, from the songs that were sung, lead by Dave Robinson, in memory of a tenor and his wife who loved to sing the grand hymns of the church as they were written, to poems, taken from the Atwood memorabilia, that were read to remind us to appreciate the beauty and joy of living life fully and faithfully to God’s glory.

The service contained an amazing account, shared by Howard Roseberry; of the decades of dedicated service that each had lived as faithful individuals in God’s care and as a faithful couple.  A charge was also offered by Gerald Parriott to encourage those who attended the service to take a good look at the example they left for us; their servant hearts, their determination to do whatever it takes, their faithfulness to one another, and their unwillingness to bend or give way on matters that really matter.

Even the fellowship that followed the service was filled with fond memories of Mr. and Mrs. Atwood as homemade ice cream was served in memory of Mr. Atwood’s favorite desert.
